That's what I was thinking, ECM will not have the knife edge to the edges of lands and will look rounded somewhat. From what I have read this rivals the polygonal rifling used now for years by European manufactures for greater accuracy, such as Glock pistols and Anschutz rifles for example.
If that's true, I sure wished my 22LR would be tossed and they me give one of these because they work great for not leading up so fast and easier to get it out when it does. Shot a lot of lead in polygonal barrels, rifles and Glocks an they were accurate and easy to clean.

Yeah, pretty much. So, what's "ECM'd", pray tell?
ECM is electro chemical machining. Can be ECR too. Here's a link with info

Wonder if DW/CZ is using this...

ECM sounds interesting, and may be all well and good but the true indicater will be how does the barrel shoot. I personally don't care how the barrel is produced if it holds up and shoots straight. We need a range report. Run it through the paces and see if it shoots true or not and maybe compare it to an older barrel. All of that is up to you of course but it could prove interesting to compare the two.

Well, I suspect it'll shoot just fine, but after some 45 years of seeing totally shiny bores (with a couple of C&R exceptions) it's hard for me to grasp one that's less than perfect.
The USMC also engrained the perfectly cleaned bore into me as well.
And thanks to B.T. for the primer on ECM. You learn something every day. Not sure if DW is using this process, but perhaps somebody does.

I know the feeling ! Took me 15 years to finally accept the matte finish and plastic
on all the guns you see today.

Yes, thanks Backtop for posting the Kennametal/Extrude Hone ECM info! Good info that explains the process.
There are upsides and downsides to every single rifling process. I think the ECM barrels would work fine, but don't have any first hand experience in shooting them.
I would be extremely interested in what CZ is doing for barrels…if they make them in house and if so the process, or if they use barrel blanks.
FWIW, the original DW monson barrels were broached (cut) The Dan Wesson rifling machine is now at Savage if I recall correctly.
