I've been trying to buy a 10 in stainless barrel for my new stainless DW made by CZ-USA. The guy at the factory is suggesting that the barrels they sell won't fit the new guns. Can anyone shed light on the subject? I have several EWK barrels( blued for my older Dan 15-2) and they fit fine on my new stainless DW. Am I missing something obvious??

The new current CZ/Dan Wesson 715 should accept both the older style shrouds and what DW is currently making.  Are you dealing with CZ or Dan Wesson in Norwich NY?  Sounds like CZ, they aren't very helpful with revolver issues.  Call Dan Wesson directly.  Go to their website and use their contact us link, they will call you back.  Faster that way.

Dealing with Norwich directly. I'm ordering an 8 inch stainless barrel and shroud. I wanted a 10 to put a scope on, but I'll settle for the 8.  Hopefully it won't be too awfully long until EWK has some stock for sale.

Thanks for the reply Scorpio!

That's really surprising that Norwich is telling you the new shrouds won't fit your gun.  I'm skeptical of that answer.  Who did you talk to?

Let me please clarify this for you:

I understand that you have a "New Style" Dan Wesson Revolver.

  • The "New Style" revolver frame will accept both "new style" and "old style" shrouds, however, the gun looks best with new style shrouds.  The old style shrouds look decent in the event you already have old style shrouds in your collection, but I would recommend you purchase new style shrouds for your frame.  Alternatively, if you have both new style and old style frames, you could consider purchasing old style shrouds since they fit on both.
  • New style shrouds do not fit on old style frames.  They actually do fit on the gun, but they do not line up and look pretty bad.  So if you had an old style frame, you need to purchase old style shrouds.

Here's what whoever you spoke to at the shop is telling you:  They don't make 10" barrel assemblies in the new style for the new style guns.  They make the old style assemblies in the 10".  Even though they don't line up perfectly, they will work and they don't look too bad.  I don't know the reasoning why they won't make a new style assembly in 10" but that's what it is.  Maybe the reasoning falls in the same basket of why they won't make additional calibers, but that's what it is.

I've been through this whole ordeal in trying to get a new 10" assembly for my new gun, trust me.

Here's a great thread that was posted on this a couple years ago.  Take a look at the pics posted by ParaNormal, then you can decide if you want the old style shroud in 10".

When I got my 715 it came with a 6 in barrel. I contacted DW in Norwich and spoke to Shelly Weston

(607)-336-1174, Ext. 20

At the time they had 10" VH SS barrel/shroud assemblies for them. I had the factory gunsmith mount the scope rail to the rib before shipping. The cost at the time for the barrel/shroud plus the Weaver style scope base was $573.48 shipping to 14610.

Shelly was super easy to deal with and very well versed about their products.
