That is a 715 (7 denotes stainless steel), and a smoking deal at that! On the right side of the page there is a link to EWKarms, they sell the fiber optic front sights, but I think they are currently out of stock. You could always use a stock front sight blade, available on ebay and Gunbroker. Do tell use where you found that wicked deal!

Just looked at a larger view of your pic. Looks like you have the factory front sight blade and a section is missing. EWK may sell those too but I know there are some on ebay and GB right now.

I just typed in DAN WESSON. I checked and EWK has them in stock as well as a bunch of Patridge style ones as well. About 9 bucks, give him a shot, quailty product, excellent workmanship and quick shipping.

That looks to be a 1985 gun, I think.
Search eBay on "Dan Wesson"
Search Gun Broker on "Dan Wesson -holster" (the minus holster cuts out a lot of crap)
I think you did very well, and replacement front sights will be fairly readily available
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Not an exact science, but we get more new info regularly.
715 was the first Dan Wesson model, introduced in August 1982. It has been reported that Daniel B. Wesson disliked stainless steel firearms and was unwilling to have DW's made in SS.

Are you sure that is stainless? I'm mostly curious because I don't think I've seen a 5-digit stainless gun before. Or at least a 5-digit one with no letters in the s/n.
It's a little hard to tell in your photo, but it looks like it may have been a blued gun & someone buffed the bluing off. Looking at the flutes on your cylinder, it looks like there maybe residual bluing in there...or maybe it's just the lighting in the photo & my making it look that way. The easiest way to tell if it's stainless would be to pull the side cover off & see if there's no bluing inside the gun.
Congrats on your purchase price, you did good!

Also has anyone ever seen a stainless shroud with a solid rib (other than a FB) can't say I have. doesn't prove anything just raises another question.

I am actually taking possession of the gun later today, I will look into it further, I do not remember seeing any blue on the cylinder but will look at that and see if I can figure out how to remove the side cover as well. I checked the gun in person and the finish isn't the best condition but not bad, maybe due to bluing being removed? I will post some more pics of any findings.

I think I'd have it reblued. There is a member here (hotbluer I think his name is) that used to do the bluing for Dan Wesson. Contact him for an idea of what it would cost.
BTW good catch Charger Fan, I thought for sure it was a '7', who'd of thought it was a 15-2 in the white.

If you leave it "in the white" it will be more susceptible to rust and corrosion, the choices are:
Leave as is, keep it oiled, dry, well stored
Have it reblued, DWF Member "hotbluer" does excellent work and was a DW bluer. If he did the work you would consider your DW to be factory original IMO
Have another finish applied to keep it looking stainless (hard chrome, NP3, etc.)
Go crazy, like I did a few years ago:

Belated welcome to the forum, if you decide to get your new Dan refinished we will look forward to pics. I would say at the price you paid for it, you have room to invest in a nice reblue and still end up with a beautiful revolver at a great price.
