I talked to the manager of DW at Shot Show and asked him if DW was going to come out with a revolver. He said they were they were going to produce one but not sure what caliber it would be or when it would be releaced. So don't hold your breath.
They must be seeing what the prices of DW revolvers are going for on GunBroker.
Lets see, I want a 414 SuperMag...

My guess is that it would be a specialty oriented item (yes, a SuperMag, AGS, etc.) because they can command a premium price for a limited production item. The business model they are moving to with 1911's is toward top quality factory production, high quality parts and well fitted and finished.
Very unlikely that it would be a mass appeal model like a 15/715, IMO. With the used market in these at $300-500, they can't price point compete with the original production ones.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I agree with Steve. Ruger/S&W own the small/medium frame revolver market these days. I think it would be foolish for Dan Wesson to attempt to compete unless they can bring something to the market that isn't there now (S&W J frame sized pistol pac anyone?).
There are a very large selection of the big frame hunting revolvers now. However current prices for used DW supermags suggests a demand still exists. The interchangeable barrel system is still Dan Wesson's ace in the hole.

I'm going to have to go back and find my thread but I think I made a comment that I thought this might be coming... I just hope it's sooner rather than later!
I would love to see all the folks on here get a 414 Supermag (even though it would make mine worth less) but from a marketing standpoint not sure that's the best way for them to go since ammo is so limited.
I would think doing something in 460 or 500 might make sense. I liked Wayne's ideas about a smaller frame dw with interchangeable barrels as well.
Only time will tell... I better start saving now!

harly said:The plan is to reintroduce the DW revolver to the market sometime next year (2011). At a minimum, a .357 cal. with interchangeable barrel capability is planned. No further details have been disclosed.
Just out of curiosity, what is the source of this information?

I am glad to here there may be a new DW revolver on the market. I especially hope they will offer a pistol pac in a super mag. I really liked the 375 super mag n the 445. I would agree with another poster that the DW in the 460 S nW cal would make a fine hunting revolver. If they offer the original 8" bbl I sure hope they would make 10" n 12" bbl n shrouds avail. If a new super mag comes to life, I'll definately place an order. I mostly hunt with my revolvers, but do enjoy reloading n shooting to stay tuned in for hunting season.

As I am new here to the DWF I wonder if it would help if all of the members would contact CZ/DWF and voice our hopes for a new DW revolver? Or an online petition signed by all members interested to be forwarded to CZ/DWF asking and expressing our desire for the new revolver? One of the first steps would be a post to see what we would want produced by model and caliber, then forward the results along with our request to CZ/DWF.

Well, I'm going to start an argument here.
I think that DW should introduce 4 new (5-shot) revolvers as follows:
First, on the large frame, using a 1.29 inch magnum case length and a 50 caliber bullet, would be the .50DW Magnum.
Second, on the large frame, using a 1.29 inch magnum case length and a 60 caliber bullet, would be
the .60DW Magnum.
Third, on the SM frame, using a 1.61 inch super magnum case length and a 50 caliber bullet, would be
the .505 SuperMag.
Fourth, on the SM frame, using a 1.61 inch super magnum case length and a 60 caliber bullet, would be the .610 SuperMag.
That would add to the Big Bang theory of handguns.
