In 2007 I read a great article in Handgun magazine. It was by Dick Metcalf and gave a great background on the Dan Wesson revolver. Since that time I've been looking for this revolver but to no avail. That is until yesterday!! I was in my local firearms imporium and there it was. A beautiful, used Dan Wesson revolver. I looked for all the things that the article told me to look for and all were there. "Dan Wesson Arms Monson, Mass USA" on the right side of the frame. Dan Wesson 357 Magnum CTG on the barrel. It is a 6" barrel with the vented top rib, red ramped front sight and the adjustable rear sight. Grips appear to be walnut, not checkered, target type. It is blued (and extremely beautiful) and the serial number is 8874X. I would say, in my uneducated knowledge, that this is about a 98% condition revolver. It had a cruddy bore and cylinder chambers but otherwise was great. No box or papers or extra barrel or tools. Just the gun. I had to have it. I bought it and brought it home and cleaned it up and I have never been happier with any purchase as I am with this. Can anyone tell me the year, model number and anything else that I should know? I would take pictures but I am completely computor illiterate. I can barely turn it on let alone send pictures. It has a two screw frame if that helps. Thanks. I paid $350.00. Was that good or not? I really don't care but it's nice to know.
Thanks.

Welcome to the Forum, congrats on a good buy on your first Dan Wesson, I'm sure it won't be your last, most of us around here are addicted to these fine firearms.
What you have is a Model 15-2, not sure about year of build. You will also want to get a barrel wrench tool and feeler gauge to set barrel gap to the cylinder.
Just check the Forum headings for lots of info or just ask and you will get plenty of help.

Hermit, Congrats on your find look no further
for a wrench, just over to the right of your post at EWK arms.
Great wrenches made by forum member Eric who is also in Ohio over
by Steubenville.
As far as your purchase price that would fall right in the mid to mid
low range, I've seen higher at Ohio gun shows & internet auctions.
I'd say you paid a good and fair price but keep an eye out sometimes
a 15 can be had for less in your area at the shows.

Like Blacktop said, you ought to pick up a barrel wrench and for the money get the feeler gauge kit.. and if you really want splurge get and fiber optic sight as well. Very good stuff!
Find a neighbor kid to post the pics.. hahahah.

EWK should have some after market shrouds soon. If your in a real
hurry you can buy from CZ/DW here : https://www.danwessonforum.com/forum/parts-and-service/cz-dan-wesson-contact-information
If you want an original Monson you'll have to head to the internet
auction sites or the local gun shows.

WENT TO THE RANGE TODAY AN FIRED 13 ROUNDS OF .357 MAG AND 75 ROUNDS OF .38SPL. IT WAS WONDERFUL!! IT TOOK A FEW ROUNDS TO GET USED TO THE SIGHTS BUT THEN IT WAS BULLS EYES FROM THEN ON AT 30 FEET. I AM EXTREMELY SATISFIED TO SAY THE LEAST. ALSO, THE OWNER OF THE RANGE HAPPENED TO HAVE A BARREL WRENCH AND A FEELER GAUGE FOR $25.00. AND HE THREW IN A DAN WESSON PATCH. COULDNT' RESIST THAT. THANKS FOR ALL THE INFO.
