First of all to the ....Please stop in the new members area and tell us a little about yourself.
You are correct, what you have is a model 715. Did you get any accessories with it? It look like it is in very good condition. Finding out production dates on DW's is almost impossible.

aboard, congrats on your great looking gun!
Unfortunately, there's no certain way to determine the manufacture year of your gun...so we're left with "best guesses". The serial number style (with the caliber included) is normally what's on a Palmer gun. However, we've noticed that some of the Monson guns also used the same layout & is assumed that it was put into effect toward the end of the Monson era.
My best guess is that yours was made sometime from 1989 to 1991. Hopefully one day the skies will open up, angels will sing & a big fat book containing all the DW manufacture dates will fall from the sky, into Jody's back yard...and the dog doesn't eat it.
Welcome to the darkendlight88.
You certainly picked a nice DW as your first gun. As you are probably aware of now the shroud and barrel on your gun can be removed but you need the barrel wrench to do so. These can be picked up from CZ \ Dan Wesson directly or on sites like GunBroker, etc. I would also suggest picking up some feeler gauges from your local auto parts store so you can set the gap should you remove it. The factory recommended setting the gap to .006 but several folks here on the forum set it tighter than that but it requires cleaning the cylinder face more frequently while shooting.
Should you have any questions about your DW someone here on the forum should be able to answer it for you or at least point you in the right direction.
Again welcome!
