I am a revolver nut. And I saw a great deal on a model 14 ($260) and could not walk away from it!

The problem is when I fire it it does not lock up on two cylinders and causes a FTF which is good becuase the cylinder does not line up (spins past) the forcing cone. It fires in SA just not in DA. What do I need to do to it? Anyone live in denver area that could take a look at it?

Welcome to the forum, you picked up a good old one. While you are waiting for smarter guys than me to show up, check out the Average Joe tuneup, to get an idea what your pistol looks like inside. I think your older model 14 is a little different inside, but I think the general workings are similar.Could it be that the cylinder stop is dirty/sticking inside and not coming up reliably?

Also, a first thing to check on any Dan is to make sure the grip screw is not turned in too tight. It should not be more than 6 full turns into the frame. If it is in too far it can impede cycling function. I don't think it is the issue with yours, but it is easy to check and eliminate.

Congrats on landing that one at a great price.occasion

I would definitely pop off the side cover & give it's innards a good scrubbing, if it was mine. That's an old gun, and some old guns get neglected by not getting the periodic cleaning that they need. If it still has issues after you clean it up, then have a smith look at it.

Greetings and Welcome to the DW home.

Fine looking "Porkchop" model.  Should give you many years of enjoyable shooting.  But do remember to start at mid loads and work up.  Your cylinders are different than mine so tolerances to "hot rod" loads just may get ugly.

When I say hotrod I should clarify, I mean Nickle plate and custom grips. I will stick with standard pressure for loads. How did you get in Peru anyway? you born there? It looks Like a great place to visit!

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

drool  That's gorgeous Steve.  Thanks for the eye candy.

That safari gun could look like this after a lot of sanding, some nickel plating and a set of LB grips.  Too bad that guy thinks he has a chunk of gold.

Hi Bender.  welcome to the forum.  That is a nice looking porkchop you have.  I just got one with the same problem.  Mine is absolutely filthy greasy inside.  In addition, the prior owner bent the ejector rod slightly so it was rubbing on the shroud.  I should have it cleaned up and back together with the new ejector rod and new springs tomorrow night.  I'll let you know if that fixes mine.
