am brand new to this forum.  This is the first Dan Wesson I have ever owned. I got it off my brother in law who needed the money. What in the world did I buy. I think so far I am able to deduce that it is a “Service Model”, but that's about it. I do know he got it new back in 1980's.  It has slight pitting on backstrap by top of grips. I cleaned it up and oiled it and …..

I like the way the trigger has a short reach before breaking. Would like to know what it's really worth.

Oh wow, thanks! Where would I find out about how much it's worth? Also, if I decide to keep it, where do I get some better grips?  I noticed that it has a stud that the grip screws on to...totally different to me than the Smiths I use!Laugh

Sloman,

I am sure someone here, with more knowledge than myself, can give you some idea of the approximate value of your Model14.

As for grips, any of the auction sites should do you justice- see the upper right of the page for direct links to said sites (right above FAQ's). I believe you can still purchase grips through CZ-USA also. Just be sure that when you look at grips, you find one for a 357, or possibly a 22. The 22/357 has the square tang where the 44 and the Supermags have a round tang.

Welcome aboard!

If you can show us some larger pics with better lighting, we can get a better idea of it's condition. How is the finish? Is it a .357 or .38 Special?

So far from your description & what I can see, I'd guess it to be worth $250~$300. But let's see some more pics & that may change.Laugh
