Hello guys.
Just reading through the forum and somewhere else, I noticed that this baby is sort of finicky to primers in DA. Seems like she likes Federal ammo and doesn't like some other brands. Is there any comments and recommendations for good proven reliable ammo to feed Lil' Dan?
Thanks a lot for all your help.

I've never seen a 735p box before, so I don't know if the foam is original or not. Other boxes of that era were polystyrene with a sleeve. One of the other Lil' Dan owners might know.
You have the manual too, very nice. I note that the manual lists the 38p as well as the 738p. I had heard rumors that a blued version was produced, but again I have never seen one nor pictures of one.
You did good.

Hello guys. After thinking for while I have decided to let go this beauty. I need workhorse and not collectible item. The only problem is that I will only let it go to Californians, I don't want to deal with out of state shipping.
If anybody from Cali is interested, please let me know. I don't want to sell it, I want to trade it for workhorse in .357 Magnum.
I am probably doing big mistake.

I ship to CA -- keep me in mind--I have more than a few 15-2's.

Palmaris, I don't own a Lil Dan but I strongly suggest you hang on to yours! I wouldn't be scared about lack of parts availability, Dans are all strong guns you can fire box after box for years and no worries. And stainless if you take care of it will stay nice forever. Like Dave said +p ammo can be a good performer.
If you decide to let it go, I'm sure Shoot would do right by you, I know he has a few .357s . Colorado is close to Cali, right? Just a couple hills in between!

I think it's possible that he is trying to keep a CA legal gun in CA, considering how tough it can be to get some stuff there.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Hello guys. First of all I want to apologize to everybody for my spontaneous decision to let Lil' go. It was based on my trip experience last Friday night to target range. I took 50 rounds of their reloads and every 5 rounds I was having problem with binding cylinder on single or double action. I check the gun and found nothing wrong with her (visually)-all clearances in specs, everything rotating/moving as it should be. Then after thinking for while I decided gun is too finicky for me-I need revolver for home defense, not museum piece. Today I decided to give her another chance and went to range again and you wouldn't believe it-she was doing the same, but only with range reloads and was working perfect with some HD rounds I brought with me. I stop shooting her and now inspected ammo and found half of the rounds have primer not sitting all the way in the case. Actually they were sticking out about 0.010"-0015" off the case. I went to gun shop and bought factory ammo-Winchester and Remington. Since that I had no one single problem. Gun was working perfect-single action, double action slow, double action fast-no problem at all.
So ones again I have change my mind-I will keep her, she is good gun and I would trust her for HD situation.
I did learn for my self good lesson-never make spontaneous decision without good investigation and don't trust reloads even if they are factory made.
I want to apologize to everybody for misleading with my decisions.
BTW, with 38 SPL she shoot about 7" high and with 38SPL +P about 4" high on 7 yards.
And yes, I would prefer to keep gun in Cali, we already have a lot of restrictions and not too many guns coming in, so if we send out-we will be short.

Hey, glad you got your gun sorted out! Keeping it is a sound decision, Dan Wessons are all shooters and built to last. But if you ever decide to part with it, it's ok, most of of buy/sell/trade now and then!
My sympathies on your strict gun regs, an example of a few bad people ruining it for everybody I guess.

Palmaris, don't totally trust factory ammo 100% either, I've found numerous
flaws with a lot of the big name manufacturer's in the last year or so....
yes this also includes holy grail Hornady.
Not so much on you practice ammo but anything that goes in the gun for
home defence should be inspected very closely checking bullet to case depth,
primer depth, and weight of overall cartridge. The last one might
seem a bit extreme but it will save you from firing a no/low powder dud.

Hello guys.
I have a question, what is your opinion on using Buffalo Bore 38 Spl +P LSWCHP ammo? It has 474 ft/lds energy and velocity 1162 ft/s at 4" barrel. Is it safe to use on Lil' Dan?

Thank you very much.
