Picked this up today at my FFL.  Serial number shows it to be a 1978 model.  Everything is in excellent shape.  My question is do other Pistol Pac owners store their gun and barrels in the case, or separately in something else.  I use bore store’s for a lot of my other revolvers.

I store my packs in their cases in a nice dry environment, also take them out monthly and oil the set up just in case and it gives me a chance to paly with them.  Looks like a very nice pack!  Merry Christmas!

Thank you, and Merry Christmas to you!  Just thought I’d ask, seem to remember some posts somewhere about deteriorating linings in cases.  May have been on the S&W forum.  I’m like you, I like to Rem Oil Wipe everything before putting it away.

I usually replace the foam in most of my cases and buy new non-gassing foam.  If you do that there will be no issues.

Merry Christmas!

Just a suggestion for anyone storing things that might not often see the light of day, Silica Gel Packs.

I use these constantly at work for silver\gold plated items, copper, nickel... This is the little white capsule that you see sometimes in stuff you buy that comes from "God Only Knows". I have them in every rifle case, pistol case, safe queen bag,... And you can refresh these in a low temp oven, the Gift That Keeps On Givingwink

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I have been storing my pack which is exactly like yours just as it is for over 30 years.

I started using rust inhibit tabs the last few years. They are 1x3" paper tabs which are embedded with rust inhibit chemicals. Throw one in the case once a year and they protect metal from rusting. They can be used in tackle boxes, tool boxes, gun cases, ect. Anything that is an enclosure works best.

I looked up what I have been purchasing the last few years. Inhibitor Pro Chips. They are flat perforated cards which you snap apart depending on the size you would like to use. A case like yours I put two in and date the card. Every year I swap them out. Closed cases hold the inhibitor within for best results. I store my guns in a basement within cases and never have had an issue.

Mt last safe I had a Golden Rod ($30) dehumidifier, which plunged into 110...yes, a hold needs to be drilled, but you can plug it up with many different materials, after you run the cord.

If you're going to drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
