Hey Guys, You may have heard rumors of a new shroud for optics mounting being in the works-well, I've got a few of them done! Check out the details about them...will save me some typing here to explain the basic concept.
http://www.ewkarms.com/dw-shrouds/59-rh-series-shrouds-for-dan-wesson-revolvers
Now this is still not 100% up to speed as I don't have all the parts done yet (waiting on getting them finished) And a bunch of the RH inventory in store hasn't been made yet-like the .44, and .22 versions...did not get any done in this batch, but I thought putting it in the store, with the new back in stock feature, would help me gage what to make next. (When people subscribe to be notified of what is in stock, the software keeps track of how many people want a certain item) So if 6 people want one type of shroud/barrel assembly, I can get those made first. You know, best allocation of limited resources.
Now, my thoughts were to offer the RH shrouds from 4 to 8" as the shroud only. As the RH's take more than the EH's to make, they cost more. So it keep it more affordable, I thought people could reuse their existing barrel tubes, nuts, and front sights and I could just offer the shrouds.
However, that makes the store inventory more confusing to navigate-should I just sell the complete barrel assembly and drop the shrouds only? Or should I offer the barrel assemblies in the short lengths too?
For the longer barrel assemblies (10-15") offering them complete as I figure very few people have those lengths to start with.
Thoughts???
The RH was Shoot's idea-once I get all the parts here, I am going to send him a complete setup to do a review, so stay tuned!

I like them and I'd be good for a shroud or two... Now, an idea: how about instead of stamping the caliber, stamp something like Large Frame, Supermag, Small Frame etc... I can see buying a shroud for multiple tubes may appeal to some. I'd particularly want one for my 357 max...
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

I second that idea. It will mean less production/sales on Eric's part though.

++! for the idea of marking the shroud S, L, or SM, etc. as Ron suggested, but how about with just a plain vent rib just like the factory shrouds? I think a plain VR shroud is going to appeal to a wider group of shooters. I'd personally buy 3 complete sets and I'm sure a lot of others would also. Just my opinion!!

Thanks for the input! That is an idea on the marking-for universal marking, do you think plain/no marking would be better than "Small frame, Large Frame, etc?"
I know you can't keep everyone happy, just have to shoot for the widest segment as possible.
Yes, planing on VH's-as you can see, the RH's are a VH aside from having the 7.3 rail on top instead of the vented rib.
I thought the RH might appeal to more people as it seemed everyone was asking about optics mounting, so got some of them done to see how they go over!

YESSSS!!! No marking on the shroud would be PERFECT!! When the VH's come around I'll be in for a FULL unmarked set in each frame size!

No markings would be fine. I saw you have some 44 8" in stock- any chance you can run a few 10" RH shrouds?? A few of my "hunting" Dans (445, 40 and 41) wear the long tubes...
I was thinking- a large frame/ supermag shroud could be universal fit as long as the cutout for the ejector rod is the SM length. I don't think it looks too terrible on a large frame:

I agree, making a SM shroud as the universal large frame shroud should appeal to the broadest amount of buyers.
That RH shroud looks really cool! Thank you Eric for your continued support for DW aficionados out there like myself, who are constantly hungry for neat stuff.

I like the idea of doing, a universal no marking shroud machined for the SM length ejector rod. I could use it for multiple Dan's and only need to re-sight in the guns. Any chance of ordering one that is not marked or can I just send an e-mail for one marked 41 mag instead of 44.
