Got my first dan wesson today Model w12 with the nut on the outside , this 1970 gun outshoots any of my more modern .357 by a long shot.
When firing the gun in single action there are positively no mis fires. However when used in slow pull double action I get a misfire about 1 in 6 rounds. So my question is this, is it the main spring or the firing pin ?
Also, if it is indeed a weak mainspring, will parts from say a model 14 fit this older model 12 ?
Thanks for any help,
I guess I'm a Dan Wesson Man now !

If it fires fine in single action, it's most likely a spring, but make sure the action is free of gunk and pay attention to the firing pin area. Any buildup in the action can supress the movement. Carefully take off the sideplate and, using a spray solvent, spray out the action allow to dry and apply light oil. If this doesn't solve the problem, the good news is the internals of the DW's haven't changed and the springs are interchangeable through the same calibers.
