I'm pretty new to Dan and Wessons, (ok, I'm pretty new to any type of gun) and just had a quick questions. I just inherited a DW .44 Magnum from my father. It came in a case with two barrels, an 6" and 10", 2 grips, and a little tool that I guess is used to change barrels and adjust the sights. My original question was going to be how much do you think this might be worth, but after reading some of the posts here it sounds like I have a decent revolver so I won't sell it. So my new question would be is there anything special about have what looks like a really low SN? 0011xx Just curious.

I also am new to Dan Wessons but am hooked. I have a bunch of guns from but never was excited about a particular model or brand 'till I stumbled upon DW. I was looking for a medium caliber revolver to set up with a scope and had given up on finding a 8' Colt Python. I found a nice 8" DW in a gun store bought it. I thought it was just "interesting" until I took it to the range. It is the best shooting and accurate non customized gun I have ever fired. I love it. Take it out and shoot it, you will never want to part with it.

Welcome to Dan Wesson Forum, you will find the answer to most any question here someplace (and not just about Dan Wessons). The Large Frame, which would be your Model 44, was introduced in late 1980, and my guess would be from your serial number is that it's a pretty early production item.
Poke around, post some pictures, ask some questions, post some pictures, shoot it, post some... you get the idea

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Up until the point of BANG, it's exactly the same as a 9mm. After that, you don't need to worry because you'll be too busy grinning . Then if the big boomer bug really hits, you'll get a 454, 460, or 500; not like I'd know about that though...
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....
