At my age lust is more about guns than sex. Of late the object of my affection has been the prospect of owning a Dan Wesson 44 magnum. That said, here is what I got.
It's in pretty good shape. No major nicks or scratches but the minor ones add up. The gun and 10" barrel were manufactured in Monson. The 8" compensated barrel is obviously an add on. The cylinder gap is .020"+ and both barrels need the lead cleaned out. Both will be corrected as soon as I receive the correct barrel tool from EWK.
My first upgrade needs to be a custom grip. I have wide hands with short fingers. With the butt in my palm reaching the trigger puts my wrist at a forward angle that is uncomfortable and exaggerates recoil and I can only get 1/2 of my pinkie on the grip. I need something like LB's "speed grip" with a pinkie hook similar to the "thumb-rest" all about a 1/2" taller.
I'll eventually add a scope to the 10" barrel so I'll be looking for a scope mount that clamps to the vent rib. I plan to shoot 44 special lswc for fun and 44 magnum 240 or 300 grain XTP for white tail.
