I have had my eye on this Dan Wesson 15-2 Pistol Pack for about a year knowing the fellow who previously owned it is NOT into guns and was looking to sell. Well, I finally decided it was time and transferred the gun on Saturday. I took it to the range today and all seems fine. Shoots great with the 12", 8", and 6"...didn't shoot the 4" yet ran out of time. I was shooting both .38 Special and .357 with 158 grain bullets.
I did not notice the label on the side of the pistol pack case when I first transferred the gun and was wondering if you knowledgeable folks could help me decipher some of the meaning??
Black ink "CDB V5" Any idea??
Black ink "SPORTS EMP. 5-17-79" I am guessing Name of the gun dealer and date it was received or shipped from factory?
Red ink number "198321" could be serial number but it does NOT match the number on the gun. The number on the gun is 2997?? If it is the serial number, I guess the case could be from a different original pistol pack, right?
THANKS Redface

198321 would have been a 1979 gun, so almost certainly some gun shop named Sports Emporium received that pack in 1979. The gun you have was a 1980, and not original to the case. I'm no expert on barrel wrenches, but I think in 1980 DW was still using plastic wrenches.
That other writing is probably a stock number of some type in a gun shop along the way
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
