I have this "thing" about snub nose revolvers. I don't know why, but there it is.
Yesterday I was wandering around my local gun store; having seen about everything they had out, I was getting ready to leave. Then I saw this holster on one of the back counters where they take in guns and process them before putting the out. It was obviously a revolver and a snub nose at that. However, I couldn't see exactly what it was since there was a notes slipped into the holster covering the logo on the grip.
I asked the employee about it and he said they had just taken it in trade. Interested, I asked if I could look at it. It was indeed a DW which is rather rare here. I've not seen many come through my local FFL. In fact, this is the first. It is a service model, 2.5" in excellent condition; badly in need of a cleaning, but otherwise excellent. Here is what it looks like. This is not the actual gun; that I will pick up this morning.
I believe, based on one of the threads here, it's a 14-2, 2.5". Did they make a 15-2 service model 2.5"? From the descriptions in one thread it seems the 14-2, non-porkchop, was a service model and the 15-2 was the target model. Is that correct?
I assume this will handle magnum rounds just fine. Is that the case?

I asked the owner, for whom I've worked and had a long acquaintance, what he was asking for it. He said, "For you, $275". I thought that was reasonable, though I probably, in my DW euphoria, would have paid more.

Excellent! Yep the gun pictured is a model 14-2, a 15-2 is the same frame but with an adjustable rear sight. I think you did well on the price.
Of course we will need after you pick it up.

Yes, you are correct

This gun will eat up and spit out any .357 Magnum you can feed it. DW Small Frame is Buffalo Bore rated for heavy loads, right along with Rugers. In 2 1/2" you will be hurting long before a well maintained 14-2 will be.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
