With the ammo shortage that is currently upon us I've been firing a lot more .38 Specials than .357 Magnums in my revolvers. That's fine, but as you know eventually the buildup of residue from the shorter .38 Special case can make Magnum case removal a little sticky. Meticulous periodic chamber cleaning is the only answer. I read about this solution somewhere, and decided to take a little time today to put this little tool together. Works like a champ! After some scrounging through my tool bin I finally found the perfectly sized 1/4" drive socket to swage a slight bell flare on the mouth of a fired .357 case (go a little at a time as not to over do it). After de-priming I drilled a small hole in the base then threaded in a hook to use as a handle. After a good solvent soak the chamber is now ready for a little scrubbing right where it's needed most. The case should fit barely snug on its way down the chamber then tighter when it reaches the carbon buildup ring. A few twisting back and forth motions and you're done; then a followup with a copper brush and finally a clean patch.
