OK, almost hate to ask but here goes. I got hooked on DW 1911's with my first one seven or eight months ago. Now I have two and one on order. So I decided to branch out and just purchased my first DW revolver at auction with 8" and 4" barrels. Beautiful gun and shoots like nothing I have ever had. I got rear sight adjusted for the 8" barrel and am shooting 1"- patterns at 7 yds., which for my eyesight is nothing short of a miracle. After a few sessions and several hundred rounds with the 8", I put the 4" barrel on. I assumed from my high school geometry experience, that it would shoot high with the rear sight set for an 8". It does...in spades. Shot clip off target holder on first shot and have cranked rear sight down (it was pretty low for the 8") all the way and POI still a good 6"+ above POA. So do I need a taller blade front sight? If so, where does one find one - nothing on CZ website. Or does the rear sight need adjusting? Or, with my eyesight problems do I need another set up (have had to learn to shoot with left eye but have become left eye dominant)? If not, what is it I need to do? Appreciate any help

7 yards is pretty close, so if you are all out of adjustment in the rear sight, then I agree with you- you need a taller front sight. Maybe a Patridge blade from EWK will do the trick.
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

EWK now also makes a taller fiber optic front sight you might try.
Thanks, both rwsem and snake-eyes for the fast responses. Will check out EWK. Appreciate the help in this new, to me, revolver world.

It may be me, but well over half of my Dan's where taller patridge front sights because I find the shorter factory colored ones to be too short. I do find the two most problematic calibers to be .41 & .44 for needing taller front sights. I can't explain this, but again, maybe just me...

BBinger - based on your numbers (6" high at 7 yards, 21 feet) and a guess that your sight radius is 5" means you need an additional 0.119" of front sight height (assuming no more rear sight adjustment). The EWK tall fiber optic sight I got from him is 0.270" from base (at shroud interface) to the centerline of the FO element (the ones on his website are 0.225" tall from base to centerline).

Now that's what I call a calculation. Appreciate it. Assume you like the FO?

I have to ask if you are firing hot .357's, or target velocity low power lead wadcutter .38 loads... make a big difference in point of impact, especially at ranges below 20 yds...
Fiocchi .357, 142 grain FMJ and .38 specials - wad cutters on order. You're absolutely right, there is a difference but .38s are close to being clip killers.
