I posted in the Welcome / introduction forum earlier.
Not my first revolver nor my first 44 magnum, but I'm very happy with this recent purchase.
The SN is B023629. Does that make it a 1985 revolver?
Also, I am a reloader, what bullet weight do these Dan Wessons perform the best? 200? 240? 320?
THanks for any info.
The barrel is NOT ported. The shroud is ventilated.

Very nice looking 44, you will have fun loading for this gun. Bullet weight for the hand loader with a Dan Wesson gives you so many options. I have loaded 180 gr thru 300 gr. I use 200 gr XTP bullets for deer hunting, 300 gr for elk. When you hand load you have the option to jack your powder charge up or down so you can almost make any bullet weight work. I use gas checks when shooting wheel weight lead. Plated or jacketed when I am leaning toward speed. Good luck

There is certainly no "typo" here, the DW Large frame (.44 Mag) is pretty stout and will certainly absorb shooting Heavy .44 +P+ ammunition. On the other hand, will Buffalo Bore repair/replace your gun if it is fed a continuous, steady diet of ONLY Buffalo Bore ammo? And if there is an issue, they will certainly challenge use of any other ammunition or any reloaded ammunition.
Just an old guy's thoughts, but Buyer Beware?
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

That is a very nice Dan Wesson!
I stick with the 240 grain bullet weight in my .44's for general purposes. The Sierra 250 gr. FPJ match bullet is an outstanding one for silhouette, and my favorite in the 10" 744. I've also had good luck with the Hornady 265 grain and 300 grain bullets in the same gun...you know, for those pesky, hard-set rams at 200 meters.
