The 715 was just a real dream to shoot and had a trigger system that would make the guys at S&W Performance Center cry. Unfortunately we were shooting 50 yards with open sights and could not really determine how accurate the gun was , but my friend and I were at least on the paper. Without optics I can not even see target if I have my sights in focus.
I will be D&T the 8″ barrel for a scope and will have a real shooter at the 50 range I am quite sure.
As far as the gun mechanical function went it was perfect and had no lead spiting or lead fouling on cylinder face so the timing was perfect. I was shooting 158 gr LSWC-HP and then 6 factory 125 JHP CorBon and it was a stellar performer to say the least.
It's a keeper for sure.
PS: It is not a HV8, just a V8
Not a full under lug.

I have fallen for the SS models myself, but the big frame guns (744 at least) are very pleasant to shot. The 44 Mag is almost like shooting my S&W Model 48 (22 mag ) which is light enough to have recoil.
What surprises me is DW did not sell more of these revolvers then they did with the quality and far better triggers then S&W ever had.

Small frames definately have a sweet trigger system.
Although I have to say that I was even more impressed when I shot CDF's SM - may have been the sweetest trigger I've pulled.
Yeah, this aging thing on the eyes is not right - seems to me I used to (30 years ago) be able have all three points in focus. Had a chuckle on your 50 yd. comment, sure, that's me too - not to mention progressive bifocals...
You got a keeper for sure - V shroud config is my favorite.
