Does anyone know how the Norwich plant assigned serial numbers to the "First Edition" revolvers they produced?
I haven't found a thread that addresses this specifically and thought others might like to know beside me.
I have a HP 7360 in which both barrels are marked First Edition and a number 56. Given the scarcity of this pistol I doubt that there are 55 others out there.
That leads me to wonder if the First Edition numbers were assigned according to model or by what came off the production line that day. I have read the thoughts on the 7414 sequence but I don't even know what other models were issued with the First Edition status.

I think they are caliber specific. I have a few FI guns and two have serial numbers that are only off by one digit. I do believe there are more than 56 360/7360's out there. They also did custom serial numbers. I have a First Issue 7460 with serial number F-350 Rider and the number 350 in the crest on the barrel.
