i have what I think is the old school 715 Monson, Mass 357 with 6" barrel. It works fine in single action, but double does nothing. It will spin the cylinder just out of the groove and freeze. Any ideas what may be going on?? Also it has a matte black finish with gold cylinder and accessories. Finish is kinda rough like it was bead blasted and then blued, almost looks like parkerized in black.....factory finish?? Thanks for any response.

Welcome, How about drop by the new members section and introduce yourself to the gang and we will try and solve your mystery. Sounds to me like you probably have a model 14 service. Either way the first check is back off the grip screw and clean the heck out of the revolver. A picture would help us positively identify the model. Also this https://www.danwessonforum.com/forum/reloading/tuning-up-your-15-2-the-average-joe-method/ will go a long way to helping you with most issues. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Pics go a long way. Basically very simple and or cheap to fix.I'd take off grip and remove side plate and looky first. Carefully pry or tap w/wood or plastic dowel. Maybe a simple clean and lube.

Take a minute and drop by the New Members area and introduce yourself.
A 715 is a stainless steel gun, and it sounds like you have a blue gun so if it has fixed rear sights, it's a 14/14-2, adjustable rear sights would be a 15/15-2. The -2 guns have a straight shroud and the older guns have a 'porkchop' shaped barrel shroud, or one with a long piece running vertical in front of the frame. A pic would help us narrow it down.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
