I'd be interested to know too. My original DW was internal, I bought another recently with it in the trigger. I know it had to be after 1977.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I can't figure it out either. I used to have a much older model 15 with it in the frame. I now have one made somewhere around 1980 that has it in the trigger. I recently saw one with a much higher SN than my current model 15 with it in the frame. I can't make any sense out of it.
Read this article to find alot of information on the 357.

The other thing with Dan Wesson I think is they just made guns it did not matter what year the part was made they just put the parts together, whatever was on the shelf.
