I'm sorry that this has taken kind of a back seat to some of the other things going on in my/our shooting life. I hope to get this on track in the near future. I can tell you that I am reliably informed that the molds and specs for the small frame DW Gripper still exist, no information has surfaced for the large frame Gripper. I'm unsure that there ever was a large frame Gripper?
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I believe the confusion lies in the designation for the Grippers. All were for small frames, but designated s and L based on size for the small frame. L for larger hands... But as Steve stated- this is definitely do-able. Moulds exist and there is an agreement of sorts to make a run, provided we can achieve the minimum product number of 300.

Please, correct me if I am wrong, but I though the L and S were for the small frame, presentation grips, hence the DW-S and DW-L designations.
If I recall correctly, the Gripper was a one-size deal for the different frame sizes.

I'm pretty sure the "L" and "S" went with the Presentation grips as well, perhaps there were both styles in Gripper as well, I think I've only seen one size.

I believe Blindfaith is correct, DW-S and DW-L were Presentation grips for small frame. They were mildly different in size. I have both.
The Gripper was made in only one size for the small frame. It's model number is always DW-G. I am pretty sure this is all correct info.
In the short time I have been a Dan Wesson fanatic I have liked and collected Pachmayr grips for them which is 3 some years now. I have never seen a Pachmayr Gripper of any type for a large frame Dan Wesson or even a picture of a large frame Dan with one. I do not think Pachmayr ever made a Gripper for large frames. I don't know why, I think they missed a market because practically every used large frame Dan has or comes with a Hogue monogrip.

Good point Lonwolf93, I've often wondered the same thing. Also, why don't the factory wood grips have checkering on the large frame guns? I would think that would help keep a tight grip on a powerful and heavy gun, but they are all smooth finished.

I will do my best to get back on task with this soon. Right now, Connecticut it trying very hard to ban/register/tax/steal anything more capable than a Airsoft device that functions in any mode except single shot.

Guys, more years ago then I care to remember I had a large frame 44. A gunsmith friend told me he used the small frame grippers and just drilled the hole out with the proper size bit. Worked like a champ. If I could do it anyone can. He was the only DW dealer in town at the time.

I've often thought about doing that, but didn't want to ruin a good set of grippers in the process. Maybe I'll try it with a set of Presentation grips first, they are more available and cheaper. Besides, I've never really cared for the look with them on anyway.
