Nice! Looks like really nice bluing on that one, often the Palmer made blued Dans have a really beautiful finish. While generally not as desirable as removable barrel models, it surely is at least a little rare.
You did very while at that price!

I think that was an excellent buy, way to go! Plus, the bluing on yours looks every bit as good as the bluing on mine...like a mile deep. Here's a shot of my pair of 3" FB's.
Very nice pair...does anyone have any idea how many of these were made or a place to research that information?

I'd say you did exceptionally well! You said $284 OTD!!?? Awesome! I would have been all over that!
I've seen specimens for sale for much more and in not as good condition. Even without the changable barrel, it's a 3", .357mag revolver and it's a DW. A S&W 686 3" would go for much more and it's not nearly as much gun.

Absolutely GTDW. At that price it is almost a free gun. Do not scratch the sideplate by letting the cylinder start to close when ejecting cases. Keep the gun tilted to the left and your index and middle finger of your left hand putting pressure on the cylinder through the frame. Most Dans get scratches on the side plate from the ejector star. It would be a shame to mess up that polishing. IIRC ,they torque the barrel on with 120 lbs of torque. The info is somewhere in the forum. The factory may remove it and convert it to replaceable barrel mode but it costs more than the value added. Most people with the dan wesson disease just buy another gun. Whether Dan, Smith or Colt, the 3" Barrel is held in high esteem as a combat revolver .

Ole Dog you are correct on the torque but I do want to add that it is still a 2 pc barrel / shroud system. First we would put the barrel on the frame and the end of the shroud was threaded like a big barrel nut if you will and the threads were timed just right and torqued with the use of Loctite as well. So with the 2pc barrel system, you still had tension at both ends of the barrel to minimize barrel wip/ hence the accuracy.
Best regards
