I just got this gun from my dad. It is a 357 Magnum, "gold series" is on the barrel. It was made in Palmer Mass. The SN is 357B001150.
Can you guys give me some info on this? From the research I already did I think its a model 15-2 but not sure. What do you think? Can you tell me when it was made or what you think its worth?

to the . Man that is sweet!!! Palmer produced guns from 92 to 95. I believe what you have will be an 15-2VH8S Gold Series (model 15-2 with a vented heavy slotted 8" barrel assembly) A VH slotted Gold Series will be quite rare. I would hate to guess a value as it can vary considerably, but it will command a good price if you decided to let it go.

Wow, that is a beautiful firearm. I love the slotted shrouds, you see them all the time on the SuperMags, but they are really cool on the small frames as well, especially as few times as you see them. Zebra grip looks tough up against that blue frame.
Great gun, congrats!

That is definitely a beauty! Very seldom have I seen any posts here on the forum about Gold Series pistols.
You could make a Pac for it, but you wont find any barrels like yours in other sizes. If I owned that pistol, I would build a shrine for it, it is a rare beauty. If you plan to shoot it a lot you may want to consider buying a shooter grade 15-2.

+1 what lonwolf said, I don't think I'd shoot that one. Also doubt you'll find any barrels to match it. I'm never seen a gold series gun before. Just when I think I've got a handle on Dan Wesson, a curve ball comes up and shows me I have more to learn.
So what was the gold series, other than gold inlay on the engravings? Limited production run?
BTW did your dad buy this gun new? If so and you have the date, consider entering the serial number into the serial number registry in order to help construct the time line for Dan Wesson production. Looks to be a low serial number, now don't know if its specific to the gold series or if it is just a 15-2 Palmer number.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

If this is an unfired gun, with all the original paperwork, case, and accessories, I would offer the very rare (for me) opinion to keep it unfired If you want to resell it or hold it for future value.
If it has been fired and you want to shoot it, then shoot it. You cannot easily make it into a Pistol Pack, you would have to adapt barrel shrouds extensively to make it into something that it never was.
It is a very uncommon 15-2, you have a beautiful revolver there.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Unfortunately my dad was not the original purchaser he bought it at a gunshow in Colorado Springs not too long ago. The seller at the show didn't know much about dan wesson and actually told my dad it was a model 40. Once i did my research i told my dad i thought it was a 15-2.
I saw the SN list and there was one guy on there who had a close serial number to me but i dont know if his was a gold series or not.
As for the pistol pack im still considering if i should buy the other barrels for this one or just get a whole new model 15-2...we will see.

Who .. not that is a sweet rare find. The only other Gold Series I have seen was on here as well. It had been exported to the Netherlands and rendered in-operable.

As these guys said, that's a fairly rare DW. aboard & thanks for showing it off!
So far, not a lot of info is known about this model. Hopefully that won't always be the case. I've got a few Gold Series pics from auction ads. This first one has a gold trigger, with no gold lettering on the shroud & an 8" barrel...
This one has a 6" barrel & gold in both areas, plus, check out the cool unfluted cylinder. BTW, this pic is from a Swedish auction.

man those are nice guns, its good to know my dad gave me a nice gun. I want to get a pistol pack eventually but i am going to buy another 15-2 for that. I will just keep this one by itself.
Having this dan wesson has gave me a new addiciton, all i do is search for dw parts now. 🙂 Im pretty sure im not the only one.

Michael, we're all just a little nuts about DW Revolvers, you have one of the pretty special ones.
BTW, your Dad gave you a GREAT gun.

Michael that is certainly a nice looking DW you have there. If you don't mind me asking what did your Dad pay for this one? As the other guys have pointed out we have little information on these since they are rather rare.
I think you are making the correct choice on finding another DW to make into a pac.

he told me that he got it for 400. i know he bought it at a gun show in co springs from a consignment guy. the guy had no clue what he had and either did my dad. my dad just liked the gun. the guy actually told my dad that it was a model 40 which is wrong. after i did research we were both suprised to see that this gun is pretty rare. its definitely a keeper in my book. i will probably pass it down to my kids one day.

That is a great revolver you got. Personally, I shoot all my guns, even the rare ones. Don't really care how much the unfired version is worth when I'm gone, I'm going to enjoy them while I am around.
same here, im going to shoot mine the first chance i get. im pretty sure its already been fired. the guy never said anything about it being brand new.
