Please, keep it stock. Customizing collectable guns reduces the value. I have one of the few Gold Series guns that have showed up in the last few years. Very little info on them. But, I do know they were started production before the Palmer years. Mine is a Monson from 1991. They were made mostly for the European Market to compete with Pythons, Manurhins and Korths in the upscale export market. Mine has a beautiful polished blue trigger and hammer. The Polish on the gun is easily the equal of a Python, maybe better. The gold on the trigger will wear off if you use it. I have a deal with Hugelk. If I ever sell it I will give him first shot. If you shoot it you will lose as much value as it would cost to buy a nice 15-2 shooter. I think 1500 is not an unreasonable estimate of value. They seem to be extremely uncommon. EWK can slot a 6"VH shroud for you. No rollmark or signature though. The rear sight should have a triangle instead of a white outline. Mine has a smooth zebra grip. Strangely, mine did not come with a barrel tool.
Yup, I was confused. It happens often. JBradley was talking about shooting it. Nothing wrong with that. It is an individual thing. I have dry fired mine to test the action. With a Dan you can open the cylinder and still work the action. That way there is no cylinder line created or deepened. The Gold Series were supposed to have a factory trigger job that was lighter than standard. Mine seems about average. I have a number of guns with better triggers. If I was going to shoot mine I would put in Wolff Springs.

I was curious if anyone knew if this was a factory barrel setup and how do I tell if its a fixed barrel or normal 15-2? Its a 90-96 based on the Palmer markings.
from the forcing cone to the end of the shround its 7.5" and ported or about 7 5/8s with the knurled cap.
The barrel inside of the shroud is maybe 6"?
i bought it at Cabelas it looks basicaly new for a 20+ year old gun.
thanks

Welcome aboard, Nice semi rare DW. Remove the knurled nut and look down the shroud to see if there is a barrel nut. If so it is removable. I think yours is probably a fixed barrel though. The angle on the front of the shroud and the two slots are normal for a fixed barrel. Changeable barrel Dans usually have a square under-lug and three slots on the comped models. But as always there are anomalies.

to Greg !
ive never seen a Heavy under lug on the long barrels to have the undercut at the muzzle end and I believe the Compensated models have the front sight before the ports. Very interesting.

Ole Dog and others...thanks so much for the info. I did pull the GS 357 apart for a good cleaning and replaced the springs with Wolff springs. one, because i want to shoot it occasionally and two, so that the original springs would remain as much like new as possible. It does have a fantastic trigger, pulls about 5.5lbs in DA/2.75-3lbs in SA. Accurate as hell and is just a treat to shoot. i've only put about 50 rds of 38 through it and maybe 18rds of 357. The grip is nice, but a bit slippery. I'm looking into a DW 357 Max and a .445 supermag that are also available and will make those my shooters and likely keep the Gold for special occasions. I have the option to pick up a .445 supermax with the serial number "VERITAS". Current owner was told it was made for a movie, but i can't find any proof of that. If that's true, then i'm getting that one for sure. New to DW's but love them already!
