Hey guys,
I have a palmer stainless 715 fb that has come out of time. I took my dan to my gun smith and the problem lies with a worn cylinder hand. To fix this I require an over sized hand. Problem is that I live in Australia and parts for dan wesson revolvers are non existent here. does anyone know where i can source a oversized hand? Cz won't ship parts over here. Would someone be kind enough to sourse one for me and mail it to me? Of course I will take care of all costs. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me. Kindest regards. Troy

Can't your gunsmith just make one, it's not a complicated part.
This seems like one possible solution, but to clarify just a bit, why an oversize hand? Since the hand is a gunsmith fit part, is your gunsmith asking for a new hand that he will fit, as opposed to a used hand that has already been fit to a gun, and may be out of spec for fitting to your gun?
Or is he possibly trying to fix a hand problem and problems with other parts in the timing cycle? An oversize hand is not something you will find anywhere.
Given the difficulty you will have in getting any parts (and my guess is that someone here will help you out with parts), best to investigate a bit more with your gunsmith to be sure of exactly what you need. I would also suggest that while you are getting assistance with sourcing some miscellaneous parts, you would be well served to include a small frame spring kit.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Dan Wessons were designed to not need a gunsmith for most things that other firearms needed them for. Barrel changes, grip changes, different sights and the ability to use drop in parts instead of hand fitted lockwork. Most gunsmith don't have a clue how to work on a Dan and a bet that is the case here. What is the symptoms? Spitting powder? I would bet that your hand is fine and the cylinder gap is set too wide. I think 006 is too much. Set it at. 003 or 004 and see how it works. The factory says 006 so that Smith lovers don't keep sending them back. Do not push the shim in and push the cylinder against the decent ball or the gap will be too small. If in fact the timing is off then PM me your mailing address and name. I have a few extra new ones but don't take the Smiths word for it. Even a used hand is usually spot on concerning timing I have found.
