Is it very common to have a major difference on POI between 38 Special and 357 Mag in the same gun and same brand of ammo between the two calibers?
If so, do you just figure the difference and adjust the sights for each caliber. My 1911's will shoot different ammo with different POI's but there's usually only a minor difference of each other.

I haven't actually tried shooting .38 SPL in my .357 Mag guns, but yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if there would be a fair difference in POI between the two. Mainly due to the difference in bullet speed & muzzle rise as the bullet leaves the barrel.
Here is an example of different bullet speeds, etc...where my Lil' Dan is concerned (38 SPL +P), that little guy is SUPER fussy over which type of ammo it eats. I have tried probably 6 different brands, with differing bullet types & weights, +P and standard, and so far it's getting closer, but it still shoots high & to the left. One of these days I am going to devote a couple weeks loading my own rounds, to see if I can dial it in closer to see if I can get the POI as close to POA as possible.

I use .357Mag mainly in my 6" V-H barrel & .38Spl mainly in my 4" V-H one. I'm not sure if its the barrel length, the barrel tension, or just the ammo but I get a 23 clk difference at 25 yds when I swap them out.
The .357 is a 125Gr JHP @ 1350FPS (@10')
the .38Spl a 158 Gr lead RN @ 850FPS (@10')
