I am new to the old style DWs.
So am I correct to assume there are 2 kinds of pork chop shrouds? Those that are for external barrel nut setup and those that are c’bored for an internal barrel nut? And then each have their own barrel specific barrel lengths, with ones for external nut being 1/4” longer?

This is a really good question that only an expert on pork chops could answer. I'm curious myself. External nut came first so, the question is: did DW simply counterbore the existing shroud length to accommodate the internal nut, and then make the barrel shorter to be flush at the muzzle? Or: did they make the new shroud longer and counterbore for the internal nut thus keeping the barrel length the same? My guess is the latter. We'll see when the experts chime in.

The barrels with internal nut were cut 1/4" shorter (same shroud but counter bored). When they went to the newer shroud (non porkchop) they went back to nominal length.
Thanks for the post.
So technically I should be able to get one of the now standard but longer barrels and be able to use it with a counterbore shroud, using an external nut. Wall will be thin at the tip of the shroud so perhaps a spacer/bushing to fill the c’bore?
not been able to find a p’chop shroud without c’bore. Yet.

Unless you have some preference or fondness for the external barrel nut why not just have Erik at EWK cut you a barrel the proper length for your internal nut pork chop shroud? Will not cost any more than a CZ barrel that is not the proper length.. I kind of like the twist rate that EWK uses as well.
Additionally you would bot be messing around with spacers and / or questioning the strength ( thin wall ) of the outer portion of the shroud you have.
