I was lucky to score another Pistol Pac today to add to the collection. This is a Monson Porkchop, serial 210xx, which I estimate would date to '71 or so. Definitely an earlier model, as the serial and model number are only found inside the crane recess. No model number is marked on the right side.
First question: Model number is stamped as 15-B. I have not seen this before, and a thread search turned up nothing. Any info?
Q2: Is gray foam without cloth covering correct for these earlier pacs? Fitting definitely seems factory.
Kit included three barrels, tools, front sight inserts extra grip, and a custom grip block.
Edit: could not find information on desired size, so converted to thumbnails.

Is this 15-B also stamped under the crane? I haven't held one roll marked like yours yet, so this is still a grey area for me. The "B" may indicate a blued gun, versus nickel.
The first model 15's were roll marked with "MODEL NO-15" like this. These were only done for a brief time, maybe only a couple months.
Next, they were marked like my model 15. This has a 4-digit s/n with "model 15" roll marked on the frame where yours has an empty spot. According to my records, this style was used at least through #17420.
The empty spot like yours was used next, with the s/n marked under the crane.
The final change came when they moved the s/n to the outside in plain view. The earliest example I have in my records is #25261. I don't have a presentable photo of that one, so here's a similar example...
Your Pac seems very complete & original, you landed a nice one there! It also appears that yours has a matte blued finish as opposed to gloss? Or maybe it's merely my monitor.

Yes, that is the only place a model designation is stamped, right above the S/N. I don't know why they would put a designator for blued; I didn't think they had any other finishes such as stainless or nickel at that time.
I would not call the blue matte, it's pretty decent, but may be my pics.
This was a consignment gun, haggled them down to 699.

For $699, I think you did great.
They did have other finishes available, just no stainless. Here's a shot of a box label...
In the early days (not sure when they stopped), there was also factory engraving available, from partial engraving to full-on. This one belongs to another member. These are fairly large pics, so click the links to view.
