The Power Control Barrels were a bad idea. This is causing your problem. The original 44s generally shipped with 2 barrels, one of which did not have the holes around the end of the barrel to match up with the slots in the shroud. It's best not to use the barrel with holes (power control).
The compensated shroud was created later to fix this problem.

I bought my blue .44 new. It came with both barrels as described above. The power control (ported) barrel has never been on the gun. Knowing me I'd never have been able to keep up with the maint. needed to shoot the ported barrels.
I bought a factory 4" barrel assembly (non ported barrel) for the gun and it seemed very oversized in the back bore. I bought a 4" stainless barrel from EK (often has ads on the sides of these pages). His barrel was very nicely made!
Edit: EWK Arms on the main page.

Thank you. Still figuring out how to use this site. I guess I'll look for a new barrel
You can get a new barrel tube from DW. Email Genny. Genny@cz-usa.com
