I've looked at a lot of other guns, and can't figure out why my barrels is different. every barrel i've seen online and such on the side it says "dan wesson arms 357 Magnum ctg" (or 44, 22 etc) on my barrel it says 357 magnum in italics etched rather than "stamped in" and the dw circle logo on the side with the extractor. is mine aftermarket? rare? or what? i dont have it in from of me or i would take pics, but in my introduction post i do have a pic thanks!

rwsem hit the nail on the head; the Norwich plant had to start with all new machinery and thus new logo as the original machines were well worn out and quite outdated, The Palmer plant used the original Monson machines, which had been in use for awhile and were already showing their age, hence the higher rate of problem guns from the Palmer era. Because of the modern machining of the Norwich plant, their guns fetch the highest price and are of exceptional quality.
Ron is correct it's a Norwich era shroud. I personally think that some of the late Monson era shrouds were roll marked with a single line (caliber) along with the Palmer guns.
My reasoning on this is that the 745 I have is a Monson gun but has a single line on the shroud. But guess the frame could have been a hold over after the company moved to Palmer. Guess we'll never know for sure...
