Hi everyone. I bought a set of Pachmayr Presentation grips still in the package for my Norwich 744. They are marked Presen  DW44-S, and have the round hole in them but I cannot get them all the way on. I remember another set I had a couple of years ago with the same problem. I tried to enlarge the hole to make them fit but ended up ruining the metal sleeve inside the hole. I can't believe I got two sets that are bad. Anyone heard of this before? Any suggestions? I tried tapping them on with a plastic mallet but backed off before I damaged them.mad

Hmmm.....haven't heard of that problem before.  Did you try putting some oil in the grip hole and on the round tang of the bun and slipping them on?

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

The only way I ever install a rubber grip is to oil the tang, easier going on and improves your odds of getting it off again.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Another vote for oiling the tang/grip hole with rubber grips, more for easy removal than installation though.  I've had some stubborn grips but usually a few drops of oil does the trick.

Is it possible that the tangs on Norwich revolvers is a little thick than older models? Since Pachmayrs were most likely all made in the Monson/Palmer years I wonder if the Norwich tang could be just a few thousandths larger? Although I can't recall anybody mentioning a difference before.

Definitely use the guy's advice about oil, and don't tap or pound it on it will take extreme methods to remove.
