Hi all,
I'm considering replacing my stock DW rear adjustable black sight blade with a Millett adjustable white outline sight on my new 44, however, I'm confused as to why there are two different heights available from Millett. One is the DW00001 and one is the DW00003. The former is .312" high and the latter is .360" high. What is the typical stock sight height? Also, how much of a difference would getting the high Millett sight make?
My stock rear sight is all the way up and I'm still 2-3" low at 25 yards (and I need to be 3-4" higher POI, ideally) so I'm thinking I might get either 1) the Millett tall (.360") white outline sight .... OR.... 2) a lower front sight. I'll proobably go with the Millett high rear sight but I wanted to see if anyone had any experience with these sights and if / how much they changed POI on their .44's. I did a search and only found three threads on this and none of them addressed this specifically.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Nick,
I'm far from an expert on this but I had to replace the front sight on my .44 with a higher one to bring the POI down. DW has a variety of front sights and might be easier / cheaper to replace the front sight. I wasn't aware that there was a different rear sight hieght; as I said I'm not an expert on this stuff.

I'm more concerned that you're off that much at 25 yards. It's not like you're shooting at 100 and off 4 inches and out of correction. I have the DW1 millet, I can try and do a comparison in heights for you with a std 15-2 rear sight. My 44 has a different rear sight on it. I agree you might want to pursue a different front sight to start (although the Millet is a nice sight)

Hmmmm Thanks for the input, people.
I'm gonna go with a new millett rear sight with white outline and I'm gonna get the higher version I think to bring my overall POI higher I believe, which will give me more growing room when it comes to 200+ yard shooting for me to adjust elevation for that type of shooting..... I THINK.
Gonna call my local Millett dealer in a minute and see what they recommend as well.
I'll keep you up to date.
Thanks!

Here is a pic of my sight in target as I "walked" my shots in while sighting it in for the first time. As you can see, the shots never quite got high enough on the bullseye to be ideal, especially considering I'd like the impact to be a bit high at 25 yards.
