BTW, I tried a little CLP in the area under the grip.  nogo, may have made it worse

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I just went through the same thing. A good deal but the bluing needed work. Serious holster wear and discoloration from I think the holster but the gun lived in a holster all but unused. Anyway after some research I decided to try Blue Wonder. The gun looks much better and it wasn't that hard. This isn't a cold blue because you have to heat the area to get blued. The shine isn't as good but made my revolver look like a decent gun.

For 20 bucks or so it had been well worth it for me. If you want it to look brand new again the guy that is posted above is the way to go.  I believe he was the bluer for Dan Wesson.

thanks for the advice, but I really want to avoid a NEW finish altogether.  the bluing is ok, but parts of the frame just appear to be very very finely scratched & detracts from the rest. was hoping someone had used a very gentle jewelry polish or something that would safely restore the HIGH SHINE.

I tried a rouge cloth on a blued surface and regretted it.Frown
