HI
I recently purchased a 741 revolver and I have a couple of questions, first it is stainless but the Serial number starts with C002xxx there is no S first, this is a Monson Revolver, second the revolver came with 2 piece grips, they are very nice finger grips so I thought maybe they were hand made, when I took them off they are marked RCF the date and they are serial numbered to the revolver, I have never seen 2 piece Dan Wesson grips before?
Thanks

I agree with Ron, blue gun hard chromed. The grips are aftermarket custom made, very nice. Probably Claro walnut. Snake eye is also correct about the S on the frame end of the shroud. Look at the cylinder chambers. They should look like a Blued gun inside not stainless. If it has a brushed finish it is stainless, although it could have been polished so that is not definative.

I removed the shroud and it is not marked with an S, the inside of the shroud is chromed the inside of the cylinder does look different, boy this will make getting other barrels hard , was this work a special order from Dan Wesson or an after market order?
My guess is there might have been some rust or something and the previous owner had it refinished in hard chrome. It’s a hell of a durable finish and cleans very easy.

The Grips appear to be similar to ones made in Indonesia between 2018-2020. The craftsman and his website disappeared a few years ago. I have made several attempts to contact since 2021.
He supposedly made custom grips for both airsoft and firearms, and had a worldwide market. This is an example of what he was doing back then:

Since this an inquiry, and I love a good mystery...and you wanted information, I have done international inquiries overnight to other Dan Wesson owners in eastern Europe, and this is an addendum to earlier post:
The Grips appear to be wood, but is that a plastic filler on the inside?
Of all the archived photos I have, the pictures I have of two-piece grips have two screws. Although one screw would suggest these are airsoft grips, contacts from I have made overnight confirm that they all...(3) have purchased similar "one-screw", "two-piece" grips from a maker in Java Indonesia, 2018-2020. The craftsman and his website disappeared a few years ago.
I have seen the placement of the single mounting in two other locations on airsoft grips, but the location of this single hole corresponds with the lower mounting screw hole of the commemorative issues:
As far as the inscription on the inside? I would speculate that information is the previous owners initials and DOB.
2 of 3 sources recommend that your grips are for display purposes only.
