Hey everyone, got a question for you, are VH6" barrels like unicorns? I have had a 744 for quite a few years and bought it with a VH8", this is my second one, and I have looked all over the place for a VH6" barrel, but to no avail.

I bought this one in '95 or so because I sold the first one back to the guy I got it from, the only difference between the two is that his had a 2x scope and mine got a Pro-Point. I liked his so well that when he wanted it back I bought my own.

I found this site when I started digging on the net for info on the 15-2 that I bought a couple months back. I got it with a 2" barrel on it and a V4" and a VH6" barrel as extras, they look virtually new.

If the SS VH6" barrels are out there, would using one of the 15-2 barrels as trading stock be a viable option?

Check out EWK Arms (left margin) for a stainless barrel assembly- he also makes some that have rails to mount optics, if that's your thing.  The second option is to contact DW- they'll still sell you one, although the lettering is laser engraved, not roll marked. And finally, yes, you can find them here and there but that entails a lot of looking and waiting.

Sometimes you have to buy another gun to get the barrel you want. Hopefully one with two barrels. Keep the one you want and sell  the extra gun with the barrel you don't want. Or scope an extra shroud and use it for all your lg. frame guns. Ditto for the small frame guns. EWK RH shroud is good for that and you won't have to damage or drill a Monson shroud. Remember, it's not spending money, just repositioning your assets as a hedge against inflation and future ex wives.

Bandit, I have one available. It's not pristine, but serviceable and Monson roll marked. PM me with your email if interested and I will send photos.

I was skimmed thru the EKW site and saw what he had but for the price I didn't know if that was the barrel, shroud and nut of just the shroud. I need to go back over there and explore some more, the 15-2 I just bought came with his barrel wrench.

I have IIRC a B-Square mount on my 744 that fits in the vent rib so I didn't have to have it drilled and tapped.

snake-eye, pm sent.

broken-computer

PS, I would post up a pic or two but my old computer needs some kind of update, so imageshack has me blocked out of my pics until I figure it out, lol.

Thanks guys, it actually has a zebra-wood grip now but I don't have an up to date picture. In my opinion I got the zebra-wood grip as a "right place, right time" thing on a for sale ad on another site, picked it up for 20 bucks.

$20!!! For a zebra-wood grip!!!! for a large frame!!!!

That's absurd.  I've seen them go for $160 on eBay.

I actually paid $130 for one.

Now I just buy my grips from LB.  Outstanding quality and a wonderful variety of shapes and woods.

$20!!! *Unbelievable!!!

Yep zoommb, it was about a year ago and I had no idea what they sold for, just that I liked the looks of it. The guy said he "thought" it was for a Dan Wesson but he wasn't sure, it has the DW badges on both sides.

Oh yeah, had to add 6 bucks for shipping.

OK, I think I'm getting my computer problems sorted out, I'm too cheap to go buy a new one, lol.

Here is a picture of my 744 with the $20 grip I put on it, correct me if I'm wrong but this is a zebra-wood, right?

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I bought this new and I believe I still have the B-Square package but when zoommb said that the zebra wood grips went for way more than I paid, I thought maybe that wasn't really what I had. Thanks

Folks, I just wanted to say that I dealt with snake-eye on his barrel assembly and it was just fine and he is a great guy to deal with. I wouldn't be the least bit afraid to drop the hammer on another deal with him.

I wanted to toss that out since our deal wasn't in the classifieds but it did originate here, Thanks snake-eye!

Very true. A real difference between the DWF and some others that shall remain nameless!

To the paranoid people who check behind shower curtains for murderers:

if you find one...what's your plan?

Thanks for the kind words. It's easy to be great when the folks you deal with are great!
