I know this subject has been beaten to death but I have a new one on the topic. Does anyone have any experience with or has anyone seen rear sights with "IRON SIGHT GUN WORKS" marked on the top of the mounting base? The sight has a wider mounting base than the standard sights you normally see that are interchangeable with the Millett-type mounting base.

They are very "stout" sights. The reason I ask is becasue I have 2 guns here, 740 and a 741 that are fitted with these sights from the factory. I was considering having a couple spares made to go with the guns because I know if they ever do have to be replaced, there's probably a 0 % chance that a replacement sight for this mounting would ever be found in the future. They're a little pricey to have spares laying around so I was wondering if there are any or many guns out there with this type of sight that may need a replacement (thinking possibly a volume discount). I am afraid that it is probably an uncommon setup.

I wanted to resurrect this from 15 years ago....has anyone ever come across a large-frame gun with sights manufactured by Iron Sight Gun Works? I spoke with the owner of Iron Sight Gun Works back then and was going to have spares made, but never did it. The owner passed away shortly after and the company was discontinued. I was able to find 1 spare on ebay over the years but I'd still like to find another spare for the other gun.
On a side note....has anyone kept in contact with Shoot? Some of his contributions here have been invaluable, especially the "Average Joe" Tune-Up method pinned in the Gunsmithing forum.

I'll DM him once in a blue moon. He's doing well and having fun since he retired.

It’s unfortunate, I was told by a long time DWF member that something happened here on DWF a long time ago now that caused Shootist357 to stop participating on DWF. I tried to search DWF to locate the historical thread where this happened, but have never found it. My guess is it was a rather ugly thread that ultimately was deleted by admins. Understandable for sure! The person that told me said SHOOT was one of thee most knowledgeable Dan Wesson people he had ever seen. So, his loss of participation here on DWF is a true loss. That same person told me SHOOT’s real name on the FB Dan Wesson group and he also said he has seen him active on that FB Dan Wesson group. I myself have never seen the guy on the FB site. If I ever see him post on FB I will try to convince him to return to DWF.
