Veerrrry nice. The good thing is you can put an eight inch barrel on and have a great target gun. Or a 4" and have a great combat gun . Or a round conceal grip for carry . Or fire sights or zebra grips or 12" scoped barrel or all of the above.
I am looking at different grips. Never liked the way the Pachmayr grips look, but man do they feel good. In this regard, they are kind of like some old girlfriends of mine. I took this bugger to the range yesterday with some .38's and liked the accuracy at 10 yards. However, the trigger started to stick as if the trigger return spring was not working correctly. Nothing too alarming considering it has not been fired for at least 5 years and who knows before that?? When I got it home I removed the side plate and investigated the internals. I took everything apart and gave it all a good scrubbing. I lubed up where the trigger return spring rides along the trigger and hope this took care of it. One other strange thing I noticed is that I can "catch" the hammer with the trigger when "searching" for the sear break in single action...if that makes sense. I can feel the sear just when it breaks and then "catch" the hammer almost as if it is in 1/2 cock. This only happens when I am really "searching" for the break. If I apply normal pressure to the trigger in single action it breaks fine. Any ideas? Can't wait to get it back out to the range.

you may to make some slight adjustments to the over travel screw for the sticky trigger issue. just in the back of the trigger. Usually not much to take care of it, then too, as old as the gun is putting in new springs would also be a plus.

Not sure what you have going on there. Have you fired this (dry or real) in double-action through all the cylinder positions?
If you decide to ditch the Pachmayr grip, I'm looking for one. I have the non-badged wooden one (not the rounded one but the next size up smaller one before the larger traditional) and I too like the way it looks but I would prefer a "rubber" grip for CC as it doesn't make a thunk sound when sitting down into a hardbacked chair (more of a thud LOL). Nice gun BTW.

Was looking at springs today. Probably will pick up a pack from wolf. Might also buy a few hand springs.

Trigger worked fine when I was checking out the gun for purchase (dry fire) Then it worked fine at the range for the first dozen rounds then the trigger started to stick. We will see what a good internal cleaning will do. Then a new set of springs. If it still is sticking I will check the over travel screw. If that does not work then I will be seeking additional advice.
I will be keeping the grips. They just feel perfect on this gun. I will be looking for some nice wooden target grips or maybe even the smaller compact grips. But the Pachmayr has "Dan Wesson" stamped on the inside and I like that as well.

Okay 2nd trip to the range and first trip after removing the side plate and giving everything a good scrubbing. Gun functions 100% after about 50 .357 mags and another 50 .38 specials. I am a happy camper. I felt very accurate while shooting this 2" at 25 yards. Still might decide to swap some springs and see how that effects the trigger.
Was Also able to get the 8" .22 dirty.

It never ceases to surprise me how many times just a good internal clean up brings everything right back into line. Many DW revolvers bought (maybe) 30+ years ago have become Safe Queens, then sold, and the new owner has a great revolver that just does not work exactly right.
Most of the time, simply cleaning the dried out lube, powder residue, dust, etc. brings it right back into action.
New springs and a little smoothing and honing makes it perfect.
Glad to here that all is well
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
