You may have seen me mention in a post that I'm considering refinishing an "extra" Model 15-2 with a 4" S barrel that I have from the factory blue to bright nickel ( I was going to sell it to a friend, deal fell thru).
I love the look of bright nickel, especially with Zebrawood grips, and I want to do it, BUT I'm torn with the "responsibilty" to keep it original, too. The 15-2 with a Standard barrel is easily the most common model out there, there are more of them than anything else, so it's not like I'm drawing a moustache on the Mona Lisa.
Tell me it's OK to do this, otherwise I'm probably going to sell it (BTW, that was not a request to find a buyer)

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Run with the idea Steve.
If you want a bright nickel finish, go for it. As long as you aren't altering the Mona Lisa, do what makes you happy.
I almost purchased a Model 15 not too long ago. The primary reason for abandoning the idea was that it was so rough, refinishing was initailly added to the up front cost of purchase. Since it would have needed a few new parts to look nice after refinishing, it became cost prohibitive.
I wouldn't have lost 1 second of sleep having it refinished though.

Yep, I love the idea and ever since you mentioned it have been considering it for a spare myself.
I like the look of that nickel .22 so much that the idea of a nickel 15-2 -or perhaps the whole danged Pistol Pac in nickel - really appeals to me.
Go for it and keep us posted.

OK, that settles it. I need to check with my gunsmith and get his take on this. It will be a longer term project, but I WANT a bright nickel DW, I'm NEVER going to find a factory original, and if I did, I couldn't AFFORD it.
And, I can build it up to a Pack over time, one piece at a time.

Like the rest of these guys, I think it's a great idea. Did you see this link that I posted in that other thread?
I couldn't find that thread again, to see if you replied there. I have yet to try these guys myself, but it looks like they do really good work, especially in the nickel department.

thanks, I'll bookmark that one. I really want my local guy to give me his thoughts, and he will handle shipping/return for me anyhow if it goes out. He has done some DW work, and I may let him do a spring change and any smoothing up that he see's on the internals.
