Well I feel dumb. Over the last couple months my 715 started getting light primer strikes in DA only. It was not consistent - sometimes go 20-30 round before getting light strike. Other times after 4-6 rounds.
I’m shooting my reloads that uses CCI and Fed primers.
I bought a few boxes of factory 357 mag ammo to see if it was my reloads causing the issue.
Tested those today and got light strikes. Then the light bulb goes off in my head to check the grip screw. Sure enough I back it out and the light strikes disappear. Doh!
Now mind you, I’m no noob to DWs and shoot thousands of rounds a year. But for some reason I blanked out on the grip screw. May be because I’ve had a lot going on lately between work and newborn baby. That’s my excuse anyway 😂
So always check the grip screw!

I would suspect that just a small bit of extra turn can produce light strikes. Usually the hammer fails to stay back in SA. Do you have a Hogue rubber grip on? They can require a small washer to prevent the grip screw from being screwed in too far.
Yup it’s a hogue grip. I’ll have to see if I have some small washers kicking around

I dunno I started getting light strikes again in double action. Had been reliable over the last couple months so not sure what changed.
I ordered a factory weight hammer spring from EWK Arms which arrived today.
Took out the Wolff 8# spring and I honestly can’t tell a difference in the trigger pull going up to the 9# spring.
Curious to see if this will stop the light strikes. 🤞🏻

I found a common washer at a home improvement store that will back the screw off a fraction of an inch, just unscrew the screw add a couple as needed under the head & reattach. completely invisible when done. Just measure the I.D of the hole & take the bolt with you.
