I'm wondering if any DW revolver folk have replaced their blued barrels with a stainless barrel (while keeping the blued shroud)?

Any reason why it shouldn't be done?

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I was hoping that.

I've been getting shaving since my .22 was new but didn't want to give up on it because both my .357 and .44 ran so well. Then I came across a reference that told of quite a few "bad" original factory barrels that were known for doing that.

So I came across the CZ site where they were clearing out their DW 6" stainless barrels for $6 each so, for the money, I thought I'd give it a shot (they had no blued ones in stock).

I can't install it yet until I get a new wrench and nut, but am looking forward to seeing if the new barrel solves my spitting problem.

It will work, the thread sizes are the same. Dan Wesson actually did that themselves back in the 80's...all the .375 Supermags came from the factory in blue, but the barrel itself was stainless. I think it looks very cool through that slotted shroud.

I have a stainless barrel for my model 15 6' and I did the same thing almost, got it new from DW for $8 + S&H of $7.xx and just recently picked up a NIB 6" SS 22 lr barrel from DW for $15 IIRC and they still have them.

Waldo, then how about yourself?... Did you replace your original .22 barrel because of a shaving problem like I have?

If not, how come?

Just wondering...

BH-

This is easy, start here:

https://shop.cz-usa.com/home.aspx?CategoryCode=27

and keep "drilling down" on what you want. Also, contact Genny at CZ/Dan Wesson directly, there are frequently many more items available than are listed here.

BTW- my experience is that they ship VERY FAST.

BH, one more thing...

Don't go by the listings alone on the website. Just because they don't list a barrel or barrel set doesn't mean that you can't get it.

They don't show the 4", .22 shroud/barrel set, but I wanted one so I contacted Genny by email.

She said it would take up to 4 weeks to get it, but I was happy enough just to be able to order it. If they don't have it in stock and listed, I guess that means they have to make it up.

But still, ask if you don't see it.

I asked for a price list 2 weeks ago and was very pleased to see the incredible list of items available.  I suspect that the do, in fact, have to make some pieces up, but I think that it's wonderful that they will continue to do so.

Jody:  If you would like I can scan the pages and send them to you for posting.

Sorry:

I didn't know that there was a price list posted.  Mine is also dated 2008.

That 2008 pricelist is the "current" version that DW Norwich is using.

They mentioned that when they sent it: "We know it says 2008, but that's the one we're still using..."  Okay!

Actually, that's good news. Usually new price lists also include price increases, to a certain extent...so I'm just fine with using last year's price list.Laugh

Now that's seeing the silver lining...I hadn't thought of it that way, but you are exactly right!! Laugh
