I am not aware of a real retaining nut on the spring.
Remove the two screws that secure the side plate to the frame. Cock the hammer and insert the longer of the two side plate screws through the hole in the end of the grip tang. This will capture the main spring guide and hold it in place while you remove the lock work. After removing the the internal pieces of the action slowly remove the screw you placed in the end of the tang and the main spring guide and spring will come out of the top of the grip tang, be carefully because it will fly out if you don't hold it down.
Reassemble everything in the reverse order with the new springs. It helps to have to have someone else to start the screw through the end of the grip tang while you hold the main spring guide and spring in place.
