Hi guys. I know some basic info on this revolver just from what ive googled, but cant seem to find specifics. I will be selling it, but as I know nothing about handguns, I would really appreciate any insight into how much I should ask for it. From what I can tell, it has never been fired.
Thanks a lot
If you have the box, tool and literature it will be worth more than just the gun. You have a model 714 4". It is the fixed sight model. They are not very common in stainless but sell for less than the adjustable 715. The 7 stands for stainless. Without box and tool your gun would be worth 450 to 550. With box and tool 100 to 150 more considering the condition. It is very hard to tell if it is actually unfired. It is test fired at the factory and a small number of rounds does not make a difference to the uninitiated eye.
You should go to New members and introduce yourself. We may convince you to keep that stellar example of industrial art. At least keep it in the nightstand, or better yet, on a magnet behind the nightstand. Or under the coffee table held by a magnet. Or on top of the refrigerate in back. Maybe you need several more.
If your revolver has been fired, it will have a flame cut on the inside of the top strap. I'm guessing that DW may have done a test at the factory prior to shipping. If so, this line will be very light.
If fired extensively, the cut will be more pronounced as well as the face of the forcing cone. Fig 2
You may also see ware on the cylinder's front, ie, shooting .38 spl, vs .357 which are longer shell casings
If you're going to drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
