Hi,
I have a problem with my Dan Wesson revolver.
I bought it recently, and went to the range with it. It worked properly, but I haven't shot it that much.
Afterwards, I completely dissasembled the gun and gave it a proper cleaning. I also changed the grip.
I then started to notice some cycling issues (I'm not sure if they were happening before, as I didn't pay attention to it). Sometimes the cylinder doesn't 'lock' and you can move/rotate it after shooting / cocking the hammer. Sometimes a small movement and then a click, sometimes you can move to the next chamber.
The gun acts the same with the original grip.
I made two movies. In the first movie, the weapon is cold and it doesn't have the issue (so proper cycling). Cocking the hammer is a bit hard, but it works.
In the second movie, I warmed up the cylinder with my hands, and then I have the issue.
You can watch the two movies here: http://tinyurl.com/bnzggv7.
Could you guys help me out here? I have no idea what the problem might be.

It's just a guess, but I suspect that you may have tightened the grip screw too much. You can test it by just backing out the grip screw out a couple of turns. If this turns out to be the case, you can go to ACE Hardware and they have little nylon spacers as much as a quarter inch thick that you can slip over the grip screw before tightening it. I have done this to several of my Dan's.

Welcome first of all! Now let us see if we can fix the issue you are having! The scary part as I was reading this one is the cleaning and taking apart! Look through this site and find the average joe tune up! This will step by step put the DW in the best shape it can be. I also agree with the grip screw being to tight!
What kind and how lube did you use?

Good morning And another Welcome the to DW home.
What happens with the grip screw is it passes up into the area where the hammer strut moves down into as you cock and bumps into the protruding screw. I had this happen on my first 15/2 made about 1976. The grip through wear and shrinkage needed more turning on the screw to get it snug. I simply removed about 4 threads from the screw. The washer fix is far bettter as you still have a OE length screw for a new grip.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the responses. The grip does not seem to be the issue, as I have the issue without the grip too.
I've made some new movies: http://tinyurl.com/d6twa93.
In one movie, I can rotate the cylinder almost 1 time before it locks (the grip was not attached, withoutgrip.avi). There are some movies in there where I open the cylinder, and it does seem to jump forward a bit (CylinderOpen.avi and Cylinder2.avi). I've also pulled the trigger a couple of times without the cylinder in it so you guys could see that (FiringNoCylinder.avi).
All help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,

Hi Guys,
I solved the problem using the average joe thread :-).
The problem was the half moon clip that should be holding my cylinder back. It wasn't there. After close inspection, i saw that it was lodged somewhere in an empty space of the trigger (I hadn't removed the trigger before so the problem should already have been there). I removed the trigger to take it out and placed it in its correct place.
Now the gun seems to cycle properly.
Thanks 🙂
