After rebluing you need to soak gun and parts in ATF or 30 weight motor oil. Mobil is good. Soak for a number of days to fix the bluing. Anything made for automobiles is better than what the sell for guns and cheaper. Don't use brake fluid or power steering fluid on a gun though. I use Flitz polish, oil then wipe off good and then use carnuba auto wax on the gun and polish. Periodically oil the inside.

UPDATE:
As many 17-year olds do, they want things done quickly and not necessarily the the correct way. When we started, he removed rust and tried to blue the gun without telling me he was moving ahead that fast. After reading the tune-up thread, I intervened and told him to follow the thread. He disassembled the gun and it's been soaking for about 3 days but it's pretty clear the soak came before a good bluing. I just removed the parts from the soak and I'm thinking that we should start over and polish, remove the bluing and any remaining rust, re-blue,
resoak and assemble. Thoughts? Also, I assume he can reblue all parts in the white bin. I'm not sure about the parts sitting on the paper towel. There was corrosion on the barrel nut that required light sanding. Advice?
