It was a beauty with a turn ring at the rear end of the cylinder, no scratches on side plate from the ejector rod, and a set of drop dead beautiful grips. I believe it is a model 14 as it didn't have the adjustable rear sight.

Are you ready for the asking price???

$269

I trying to decide if I should buy the gun or let a friend who has been wanting a cheap DW to tinker with know about the gun. Well I to be honest I sent him an email about the gun, I think I might buy the gun if he passes. Man the blue job was beautiful, but I have a 15 and a 715, not sure I can justify to the wife. Unless it is some rare gun worth two or thee times what I WOULD pay for it, not sure I could use that excuse again and get away with it now.

All comments are welcome.

My opinion is that $269 would be a GREAT price for one in the condition you're describing. I pretty much assume that their value will pretty much mirror the DW Porkchops of the era...so that gun on GB for example, may bring somewhere in the $400 neighborhood, with decent pics.

Personally, I've had one of those on my radar for quite a while now. Lately, they seem to have dried up on the auction sites & the only two I can find (online) are priced at $650 each.Surprised Crazy.

I hope to find a deal on a clean one someday.Smile

If I or my friend do not buy the gun I will let you know. At that price some one will buy it for under the seat gun and beat it tp pieces.

I spotted one of these up the road from me about an hour a while back.  They wanted $375 for it.  It wasn't in bad shape but questionable at $375.  The owner wouldn't budge so I passed on it.

Now at $269 I don't see how someone could pass it up if they had the extra funds.

Thanks, and I agree. Being that cheap, it's likely that someone who doesn't know it's rarity may buy it & beat the poor thing up.Frown

Ok, so no sooner had I said that I haven't seen one on the auction sites for months, when I come home & get checking GB tonight...

$269..dang...I don't think I could pass it up in the condition you're describing.

'Chops are definatley an acquired taste, but that is just a fine looking little pistol in your picture CF.

Crap Jeff put it on the action block. I was going to call him in the morning and tell him I would come over Friday and get it from him. But I guess that shot in the butt now. Crap that what I get, he offered it to me for $250 and I didn't have the check book and didn't want to put it on the credit card even though he never charges me the extra 3% when I do use the plastic.

So yup that is same one, and it is that clean. I almost bought it for the grip, but my cell phone rang and I had to run off.

CRAP!!!!!!CRAP!!!!!

Sorry it turned out like that, Waldo. That sounds like something I would do...take too long to think about a deal like this & have it be sold from under me. lol2 I do that all too often.Embarassed

Well, you were sure right about the gun being in good shape, it's a beauty! Let me know if you're going to bid on this & I'll stay out. If you're not going to bid, then as long as the bidding stays reasonable on this, I'm definitely in on the game.Cool At least it's a short auction, not one of those two week deals.

Go for it, I have as I said a 15 & 715 and I will not be gready. My 715 has only been test fired, and I guess I really need to play with the toys I have.  Good luck.

I learned the hard way:

1) Don't buy a gun just because you have the money, and you want "a gun"

2) Don't pass on "the gun" when it's the right one

I waited a year ago on not buying a $750 CBOBCry

I walked away from a perfect $299 22 6VHCry

I walked away from a 3 barrel 715 VH for $550, got 1 mile away and went back Laugh

I'm not so smart, but not as stupid as I used to be (sounds like a Country Song title)

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I agree that's a beaut, and with Steve's song; I've gotten a couple of great deals, by not hesitating when I thought it was a good deal and lost as many by thinking about it and finding it was a fantastic deal too late.

When I drove away from the shop that had the 715, I kept saying to myself "Why are you doing this?"

I literally made three right turns, and when I walked back in, he laughed at me, and took it back off the back counter, not the showcase. "I already started your paperwork, just check off the answers and sign."

Sort of the same way I knew the 744 was right. it went around once on auction without a nibble, I went in at the starting bid about one day out, and that was all she wrote.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

What a nice mk11 . Good luck Charger Fan , I would'nt take that for any of mine even if offered $ 200 over that price ! Thought about putting a bid on this myself till I saw intrest in the DWF, and the wife said if I spend that amount on a new Coach purse for her she will make me just as happy as the new gun would ! So new gun or wife getting a new purse and me getting brownie points because she only had to mention it once and I was actually listening, tough call huh ? when one will last forever and the other only last two weeks tops! Two weeks of wife being happy ... priceless! Besides everybody should have a High Standard, hope you win!

Man, she must be pretty darn persuasive in her technique!lol2

Welp, I now have another Porkchop in the family. :D Waldo, you were absolutely right, this is as nice in person as the pics make it out to be. The action is a little stiff, but I bet that a good scrubbing will take care of that. There's just a hint of bluing wear at the end of the barrel, from holster use & a little on the cylinder, otherwise this baby's perfecto!Cool

Coincidentally, a smaller NOS grip found it's way to my house the same day that the gun arrived. Nice timing.Wink

Here, he's getting aquainted with his DW Model 14 cousin. They already look like two peas in a pod...

Hey glad to hear you got the gun, and you like the gun.  Slap

I sure screwed up not buying while I was there, but that's life.  occasion

Jeff is pretty good to do business with and I have bought several ove the years from him. I would visit his shop more often, but he is a chain smoker. So being a non smoker I just don't like going home smelling like an ashtray and don't visit as often as I should.
