Very nice gun. Any of the clamp on mounts will mar the shroud. I would recommend a D&T mount but then you have holes in the shroud. They are more stable though. My solution is to obtain another shroud with perhaps cosmetic issues to use with the scope. I would use a standard shroud D&T or a vent shroud. The added weight of a mount and scope would be less than using a VH shroud. It doesn't have to be stainless either. The deer won't care and who will see you in the woods besides your Buds? Besides, Taurus Raging Hunter's have black shrouds and stainless frames. It is in style.

Stupid question but I wonder if you put some painters tape or something underneath the clamp to minimize marring?

I put painters tape on the backside of my Aimtech grip mounts on my 52-2 and High Standard. It has worked well so far.
Good to hear! I know y’all will hate me and cringe at the thought of it. BUT I’m tempted to slap a scope on my newly acquired 15" barrel…😬
Will definitely use painters tape. I think there shouldn’t be much movement with the scope base (which would most likely mar the shroud) under recoil because of how massive and heavy the barrel is.
