Hey all, I'm looking to put some optics on my model 44. I tried a B-Square mount in the past and did not like the bulk and the forward location. I'm looking at the Weigand or Dan Wesson mount. Any feedback from anyone who has used either of these would be great, pictures would be awesome. The wesson mount looks to mount over the shroud only and would seem to put the rings to far forward. The Weigand mount looks good with the extension over the frame but it appears as if the frame must be tapped also which I'm hesitant to do. Any personal experiences appreciated.

Thanks

I don't have any experence with either mount but if I'm not mistaken only the shroud has to be tapped for the Weigand mount.

Good Luck!

I have two Weigand mounts and like them both, they tap only to the shroud, so you can just get a spare shroud if you like to not damage the original shroud, they are low profile and strong

Thanks, that's what I was hoping.

How far does the mount extend over the frame?
